Why Music is the Foundation for your Wedding Film.
Music is the most important part of your wedding film and i'm not arguing on that!
Here are the reasons why I believe the music on your wedding film is the most important part of the film and I hope I will change your mind if you think otherwise.
Movies - All your favourite movies will have incredible soundtracks to enhance the action/drama/twists within them. I guarantee that if you name your top 5 favourite movies, you will be able to sing (or at least hum) the main piece of music in them. I also guarantee that if you can't hum the music, watch the movie again, and you will realise how vital the soundtrack is to how the film makes you feel. Your wedding film is no different to a hundred million dollar Hollywood blockbuster in that you need the right music to set the mood. The wrong music just makes things feel strange. Check out this video for a taste of what I am talking about.
The Energy of The Day - Capturing the energy of the day and then recreating that energy through the film and editing is what I strive to achieve as a wedding film maker. Without the right choice of music to reflect the energy of both you as a couple and that of your guests, your wedding film will fall short of what you deserve. I have a number of sources from which I pick your perfect track and as I believe this will make or break your film, I have a thorough process to ensure I get this right.
Watchability - (Is that even a word?) We all know that the couple will watch their wedding video over and over. After all this is one of the most important days of your lives! The beauty of a wedding film is its ability to transport you back to the day in a way that photographs just can't. You will get to see those subtle, candid moments that you might have missed on the day. A good videographer will have the eye to get those moments on camera and incorporate them naturally into the film. All of these elements add to the watchability as a whole, but it will be difficult to keep the viewers attention with these alone, and this is where the music comes into it. Great music will enhance the watchability of the film for the friends and family you have shared it with. As mentioned earlier, the couples will want to watch their film again and again but friends may give it a watch or two just to be polite. A film with great music will be so much more enjoyable for those people in your lives and get them hooked into re-watching it over and over.
So I know some of you will be thinking, the most important part of a wedding film is the couple themselves darn-it! My argument is that this is a wedding film, and that means it is fundamentally about the couple and their journey together. I firmly believe wedding films based around a foundation of incredible music will enable you and your friends and family to relive your special day time and again. This is what makes film unique to photography, the ability to step back into the day that you will remember for the rest of your lives.
