Andy & Em’s Indie Rock Wedding at The Shack Revolution

Some weddings just hit differently, and Andy & Em’s day at The Shack Revolution was one of those. Set in the heart of Hereford, this venue is the ultimate alternative wedding spot – industrial, edgy, and full of character. A perfect match for a couple who love indie rock, good vibes, and doing things their own way.

The Shack Revolution set the stage for a wedding day packed with emotion, laughter, and a whole lot of fun. I had the pleasure of filming alongside my second shooter (and wife), Tash, and we worked seamlessly with the incredible Carmel Teresa McCabe on photography, who brought her infectious energy to the day, supported by Michael Walton Photography as second shooter. It was a dream team setup, and we had a blast capturing every moment.

First Looks & Tears (Lots of Them!)

The day kicked off with some seriously emotional first-look moments. Andy & Em had a private first look, which was full of love and happy tears, followed by Em’s reveal to her bridesmaids and her dad – and let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Meanwhile, Tash was at the venue capturing some killer B-roll and those all-important guest arrivals.

A Ceremony Full of Love & Confetti Magic

With the formalities underway, the ceremony was led by a registrar and was packed with heartfelt moments. As the newlyweds made their way outside, we captured some epic slow-motion confetti shots (seriously, slow-mo confetti never gets old). Then, we set up a big group shot from above, capturing all the guests throwing their hands in the air – a nice moment for everone to get involved.

Couple’s Portraits – A Mix of Fun & Romance

After the group shots, we got to have some fun with Andy & Em. They wanted a mix of relaxed and silly moments, so we rolled with it – dodgy dances, confetti blowing straight into the lens, and some awesome couples’ shots while they kicked back with a drink. All set to the stunning backdrop of The Shack Revolution’s raw, urban aesthetic.

Candid Moments & Indie Vibes

While guests sipped on drinks and tucked into mince pies and cookies (because, of course – it was December 6th, so Christmas was on the horizon), they also made full use of the venue’s ping pong tables. The relaxed, fun atmosphere was exactly what Andy & Em wanted, and the candid shots we captured really tell the story of just how much everyone was enjoying the day.

Speeches & That ‘Whoop Whoop’ Moment

When it came to speeches, Andy & Em wanted full coverage – and we delivered. Before they got started, they made a grand entrance to roaring cheers and an obligatory “whoop whoop” chant from their guests. The speeches were heartfelt, hilarious, and everything in between. After that, it was time for food, drinks, and a well-earned breather before the real party began.

An Indie Rock Party to Remember

Some couples have a first dance. Andy & Em? Not their thing. Instead, they gathered their guests for a big group shot (Tequila I think?) – a move I fully respect. But when the music kicked in, the real magic happened. Their soundtrack for the night was packed with indie rock anthems, with Not Nineteen Forever by The Courteeners absolutely going off. They’re also massive Fontaines D.C. fans and have now even seen them live in Japan on their honeymoon (not jealous at all… okay, maybe a little). The energy was unreal, and the party carried on late into the night.

Sparklers, Photo Booths & After-Dark Magic

Before we wrapped up, we headed outside for some sparkler action – Andy & Em walking down the middle of two rows of guests lighting up the night. Add in a buzzing Photo Booth with props, and you’ve got the perfect end to an epic day. Huge shoutout to The Shack Revolution for being so accommodating and allowing this wedding to be as fun and free-flowing as possible.

Andy & Em’s wedding was a perfect example of why I love what I do. It was raw, real, and packed with personality. If you’re looking for an alternative wedding videographer who gets that your wedding should be *your* vibe, I’d love to chat.
